Questions
Short answers. If the steel in your hand is already in trouble, bring it to 48 Flat Street on an open day instead of writing a longer question.
Are you a restaurant?
No. Nothing is served. The smell, when the oven is on, is hot grapeseed oil on steel. The stool is for waiting on a scraper.
Do you sell nonstick or cast iron?
No. Carbon-steel pans, wood spoons, sheet pans, and bench scrapers. That is the room.
Will a new skillet stick?
Yes, at first. The coat from the bench is a start, not a finished surface. Cook, wipe, repeat. A thick black coat that flakes is worse than a thin brown one.
Can I use soap on the steel?
On a carbon pan, yes, if you dry it on heat and wipe a trace of oil after. On a spoon, mild soap, no soak, no dishwasher. On a carbon scraper, dry it immediately or it spots orange overnight.
Do you sharpen knives?
No. We edge carbon bench scrapers and we ease a folded skillet lip. We do not take a knife roll. Details and prices are on the sharpening page.
Can you fix a warped sheet?
No. Cold water did it, and we cannot undo it. Five warped half sheets already lean on the back wall as the demonstration.
Do you ship?
Sometimes, inside the United States, for a pan, a spoon, a sheet, or a scraper. Write to desk@ovenlark.shop with the size and your town. We quote the road cost before we send anything. The form on this site does not send mail. Most sales are pickup at the bench.
Will you hold a piece until I get there?
Call (802) 555-0148 during open hours. We hold until the next time the door locks. We do not hold over a closed day.
Can I bring a tool back?
Unused, within 14 days, with the receipt, at the price you paid. Cooked-in pans, stained spoons, and warped sheets stay with you. The full counter rules are the terms.
What do I do about rust?
A blush: heat, oil, and a pinch of coarse salt on a spoon. Pits: bring the pan in and we will say if the steel is finished. The wet-week version is a note from January.
Does the form reach the desk?
No. It reprints your note on the next page and stores nothing. For a reply, use your own mail to the desk address, or call while we are open. The form is on write us.
Where do I leave the car?
Not in a loading space. We have no lot. Public lots are on Flat Street, including the transportation center and the lot across from it. Read the signs. Walking notes are on the Brattleboro page.
Is there a class?
No. If you stay while we oil a pan, you will see the whole method. It is work, not a performance, and it is not a meal.
